Lead Private Sector Specialist for Tanzania, Burundi, Malawi and Somalia
Steven Dimitriyev is the World Bank’s Lead Private Sector Specialist for Tanzania, Burundi, Malawi and Somalia, based in Dar es Salaam, from where he oversees the regional programs in trade and private sector development. In Tanzania since June 2016, after serving in Mozambique for the Indian Ocean region (Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles and Comoros), preceded by similar assignments in the DR Congo and Nigeria. His areas of focus are industrial competitiveness, business regulation, trade facilitation, and regional integration, in support of industrialization through agribusiness and manufacturing value addition. Prior to joining the World Bank in 2008, Steven advised the governments of Bulgaria, Macedonia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Nigeria, after several years as manager with Accenture and in the US manufacturing industry.
